Welcome to Year 1!

Hello and welcome to Year 1 at Parkfield Community School. Our teaching team consists of Mrs Bather, Miss Mehta, Miss Maryeam, Mrs Drysdale, Miss Naz, Mrs Malik and Mrs Cornforth.

In Year 1 the children learn through a variety of play based, practical and written activities. To help with the transition from Reception to Year 1 at the start of the autumn term, we teach through a continuous, provision programme, this consists of a mix of indoor and outdoor based activities linked to our curriculum themes. As the term progresses, the children move to a more structured, classroom approach. Our curriculum topics include significant figures, weather, toys, the 4 nations, a local study of the area and seaside holidays.
